If you have found ceiling moisture spots or leaking of water through ceilings or down walls in the winter, you may be experiencing ice damming in or above your gutters and soffits on the edge of your roof.
Ice dams are usually caused by heavy snowfall and improper ventilation in the attic. This causes warmer areas in your attic to melt the snow on the roof even when the outside temperature is well below freezing. When the accumulated snow on your roof starts melting it runs down your roof underneath the snow until it reaches a colder section like the soffits, then it begins to freeze again. This process of thawing and re freezing is what causes an ice dam.
Mr. K’s Carpet Service has a system to completely eliminate this buildup and get the roof back to a fresh start. We remove all snow from roof and melt all Ice from gutter and soffit area. While doing this we will start by clearing and melting downspout areas while attaching a positive displacement vacuum system to the downspout to insure all melted water is accumulated so as not to flood surrounding areas. After this is accomplished we work in 18″ intervals away from downspout head to minimize and control all moisture as we proceed. While work is being performed on the roof there is always someone on the ground as well, removing any snow from walkways and driveway that has been removed from the roof. The end result is a roof with a fresh start and walks and drive are left neat and clean. For more information on this service Select the branch that services your area.
